Garrison Keillor—Author Visit

Minnesota icon Garrison Keillor, the creator of Lake Wobegon and the voice of “A Prairie Home Companion,” is scheduled to visit Hastings! In addition to reading from Leaving Home, Keillor will share his Minnesota wit with Hastings residents. Bring your book for him to autograph! Tickets are free and can be picked up in quantities of 1-4 at the public library from February 5 until February 12.
Family Book Event

This event is for families with children in elementary school. Your children will enjoy participating in activities related to Minnesota and Up North at the Cabin by Marsha Chall, especially since they have the opportunity to meet the author in March. Choose the night that works best for your family, and bring your young ones to the YMCA. You do not need to be a member of the YMCA, and no registration is required.

The high school film club is hosting this event for all high school students. Listen to the high school announcements for more information about this interesting movie based on one of Will Weaver’s short stories. Snacks will be provided. You won’t want to miss it! Will Weaver, famed Minnesota author of numerous young-adult and adult books, will spend the day at the middle school, speaking with students about Saturday Night Dirt. A Hotdish Competition

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church
The authors of Growing up Lutheran, Suzann Nelson and Hastings’ Janet Martin, are “Those Lutheran Ladies.” Together they will provide humor for all members of the community, Lutheran or not. They will also join several Hastings celebrities as judges in our Hotdish Competition between local businesses. Come for an evening of laughs! Marsha Wilson Chall, award-winning author of six picture books, will visit the public library to talk to children and adults about Up North at the Cabin. Her beautiful book engages the imagination of her readers and captures the charm of Minnesota’s summers. Bring a book for her to sign, or purchase one at the event.
